OVER 100 volunteers have signed up to clean up areas from the Micronesia Mall intersection to the Governor’s Complex in Adelup beginning at 7 a.m. this Saturday. Motorists are advised to proceed along these areas with caution.
The sponsoring group, Na’La Bonita Guam, is operating under the umbrella of the Beautification Task Force. The organization is also working in conjunction with the Guam Hotel and Restaurant Association’s Keep Guam Clean project in Tumon this weekend for a trash clean up.
The areas targeted for cleaning include the Micronesia Mall, East West Rental, the Department of Public Works, Airport Mobil, Denny’s Restaurant, Tamuning Taco Bell, Alupang Beach Club, Island Tinting, Padre Palomo Park, the Staywell offices, and the Ace Hardware Anigua.
Interested persons, groups and organizations are invited to volunteer their time to clean up areas alongside Guam’s most frequented roadway, Marine Corps Drive. Those interested in volunteering can simply show up at 7 a.m. tomorrow at the designated cleanup sites.
“The governor and lt. governor have tasked the various agency heads to take the lead on this project. There will be volunteers from various government agencies as well as the private sector,” said Department of Parks and Recreation director Joe Duenas.
The Na’La Bonita cleanup efforts began in 2003 after Typhoon Pongsona ripped through island, Duenas said in a statement.
