GovGuam credit union boosts up marketing

By Gerardo R. Partido

THE Government of Guam Employees Federal Credit Union has introduced a series of changes designed to better serve its members and boost the marketing of its products.
GGEFCU’s newly relocated Tamuning Member Center, currently located at 788 S. Marine Corps Drive next to Dhonson Jewelers, has been re-fitted and re-designed with its members in mind, moving to a bigger and better location at the Paul’s Plaza.
Its existing Tamuning location will close its doors today and tomorrow in preparation for the opening of the new location.
According to GGEFCU, its members can look forward to an even better banking experience.
The soft opening of the new location is on Monday, April 2, while the grand opening celebration will be on Wednesday, April 11, at 9 a.m. at Paul’s Plaza.
Michelle Bengco, marketing manager, commented on one of the main reasons for the redesign and relocation: “A large percentage of our over 35,000 membership base live within a short radius of the new Tamuning location, so this will give them a convenient alternative to our other member centers. In addition, the added square footage of this new location offers more ease and convenience to their overall banking experience. We’ve also added an interactive play zone for kids that includes a large plasma screen TV.”
She added that it’s very important for the credit union that it continues to grow as its members’ needs grow.
This is a milestone year for GGEFCU as it celebrates its 45th year in September 2007. And with its 45th anniversary just around the corner, the credit union has introduced several other exciting changes, including its new colors and tagline, along with the exciting introduction of breakthrough products and services like the new line of checking products, Premier Tiered Checking (an interest-bearing complement to its free checking account product) and a new checking account line of products for teens and those just entering into early adulthood, called CU Varsity and Junior Varsity.
The contemporary new colors include the motto and promise of “with you every phase of your life – growing as our members grow to fit their needs perfectly.”
GGEFCU also has a new tagline that sums up the way the company builds relationships with members in these simple words – “CU & You, A Perfect Fit.” These words convey the company’s commitment to help members in every stage of their life and help them meet the exact level of their needs.
The new contemporary look and slogan of GGEFCU will be seen across all marketing platforms and reflected in the credit union’s new and refreshed member centers — to include the redesigning of its Harmon and Maite branches coming soon.
This new look will extend to its Web site launching mid-month April 2007. Improved features will include clean and consistent style across the site, prominent links to other CU relevant sites, navigational improvements, context sensitive menus, and more.
