SHORTSTOP Jerome Delos Santos of the defending champion Budweiser Kings topped three statistical lists after four games in the 2007 Budweiser Saipan Major League baseball tournament.
Delos Santos had the most RBIs with 10 to lead the Bud Kings to a perfect 4-0 record. He is ahead of the Ranger’s Ed Kapileo, who has earned seven RBIs in three games. Pete Tomokane, JJ. Laniyo and Jonathan Delos Santos posted six RBIs each.
Jerome also led in triples with three, followed by Tomokane with two. Six players had one triple apiece.
The Bud Kings shortstop scored one of the only two homers so far in the tournament. The other batter to score a home run was Manny Sablan of the Ford Rangers.
Jerome was third in the most runs scored with seven tying Chris Camacho, Kapileo and Sablan.
Eric Lizama had the most runs with nine, followed by Byron Kaipat with eight.
Kapileo was the batting leader based on nine or more times at bat. He went 7-for-10 for a .700 hitting average.
The Tanapag Falcons’ BJ Sablan is in second place with a .600 average after going 6-for-10, followed by Manny Sablan (.571), Jerome (.545), the Bud Kings’ Dane Lizama (.524) and Tony Celis (.500), the Falcon’s Mike Pangelinan (.500), the Bud Kings’ Oliver Secharmidol (.500) and Byron Kaipat (.462) and the Rangers’ Tomokane (.429).
Dane Lizama and the Rangers’ Robert Bansil had the most doubles with four, while teammate Tony Celis had three.
Daison Camacho had the most strikeouts with 14. Jonathan Camacho had eight, McGregory Camacho and Jesse Agulto posted seven each and Elmer Sablan had six.
Four tied for the lead in the pitching department. They were the Rangers’ Franco Flores, the Young Guns’ Jonathan Tenorio, the Masters Ben Duenas and the Bud King’s Frank Hocog, who all posted 0.00 ERA. The leaders were determined based on four or more innings.
In the team standings, the Rangers, who placed second to the Bud Kings last year, are still behind the defending champions with a 2-1 record.
The Falcons are in third place with a 1-1 slate, followed by the Young Guns and Masters, who both have 1-2 records. The Korean Saipan Jaguars are winless in three games.
