MHS Class of 1988 meeting on Thursday

THE Marianas High School Class of 1988 graduates will meet on Thursday, May 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Melvin and Eleanor Cepeda’s residence in As Lito.
This is to discuss the upcoming 20th year class reunion.

Parents story sharing course

(JKPL) — CNMI Motheread/Fatheread will be starting a parent story sharing course.
The course will start on Wednesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. and will be held in the Children of Our Homeland Cultural Center at the Joeten-Kiyu-Public Library.
The course will meet every Wednesday for five weeks for about one and a half hours.
The courses are for any person who is interested in improving and learning about reading with the children in their lives.
Parents will learn how to motivate their children to want to read, to become critical thinkers and to improve reading comprehension.

Hopwood updates

(HJHS) — Hopwood Junior High School has scheduled the following activities:
• May 3-4 — Quarter mid-term progress reports go home. Visit your child’s homeroom teacher and inquire about his attendance and academic grades.
• May 10 — PTSA meeting in the cafeteria at 6-7 p.m. All incoming 6th grade parents are encouraged to attend. There will be presentation for incoming students.
• May 26 — Awards ceremony for 8th graders at HJHS, 8:30- 11:30 a.m.
• May 30 — 8th grade promotion at HJHS stage area, 4 p.m.-6 p.m.
• June 1 — 7th grade awards day
Saturday Academy: Open library hours for reading/math/research and tutorial from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Community members and students are invited to visit the library every Saturday.
Reminder to students, parents and/or legal guardians: If your child is involved in a behavior offense or was suspended, he will not be able to participate in the promotion ceremony.
