Gasoline prices up again

By Gerardo R. Partido
Variety News Staff

GASOLINE prices are up again as Shell Guam yesterday announced it is increasing the price of its products once more.
Shell’s regular gasoline will increase by 6 cents a gallon while premium gas will increase by 6 cents a gallon.
The price at Shell stations for diesel will also move upward by 6 cents a gallon.
According to Ruben Domingo, president of Shell Guam, the company’s cost of supply continues to increase and Shell has no other option but to raise prices.
The two other fuel companies on island — Mobil and “76” — had not yet announced any price change as of press time yesterday.
But the three fuel companies usually mirror each other’s prices.
The increase in the price of gasoline was spurred by a rise in the price of crude oil, which shot to its highest price in 33 weeks Friday.
This developed after Saudi Arabia said it had foiled a terrorist plot to damage significant petroleum facilities, which would have interrupted the world’s oil flow.
The Saudi fears combined with continued strong demand by motorists, could drive up gasoline prices close to, or past, the record average prices, analysts say.
