GUAM again got
attention from national television as CBS yesterday featured the island
as the setting for an episode of the hit reality show The Amazing Race:
All Stars.
The critically acclaimed program, now in its 11th season, features teams
competing in a series of tasks on Andersen Air Force Base.
KUAM TV11 broadcast the episode yesterday, including a behind-the-scenes
look at the episode reported by KUAM News.
KUAM TV 11, part of the Pacific Telestations Inc. station group, is Guams
official CBS affiliate. The Amazing Race is hosted by Phil Keoghan and
is a Jerry Bruckheimer Production.
Andersen Air Force Base hosted a briefing yesterday to showcase the people,
mission and events featured on the Guam episode of The Amazing Race.
Andersen and Naval Base Guam are the only military installations in the
Department of Defense that have been featured in the award-winning reality
shows 11 seasons.
The 36th Bomb Squadron and 734th Air Mobility Squadron each hosted a mission-related
challenge when the show was filmed on Guam in December.
Contestants were given the option to wash a B-52 engine pod or to participate
in a routine humanitarian airlift training mission after loading a care
package onto a C-17 Globemaster III.
For this episode, the racers climbed the Andersen air traffic control
tower to get their next clue.
Teams then filled care packages with 500 lbs. of essential supplies for
locals on neighboring islands.
