First Annual Ukulele Festival on Friday

THE Guam Ukulele Club will hold its First Annual Ukulele Festival on Friday, May 4, at the lobby of the Outrigger Hotel from 6 to 10 p.m., according to a press release.
The festival will feature Guam Ukulele Club students, as well as renowned local ukulele groups and other entertainers who are supporting the club’s cause.
The Guam Ukulele Club, a non-profit organization, currently has around 40 members. The club provides a positive outlet for children to learn to play the ukulele and promotes a drug-free, alcohol-free and smoke-free lifestyle.
The ukulele festival is a fund-raising event as the group has been invited to represent Guam in the Ukulele Festival in Hawaii in late July. The Hawaii festival features ukulele performers from all parts of the world and only groups that are formally invited can participate.
The Guam Ukulele Club hopes to raise enough money to accept the invitation and send 15 children to represent Guam at the festival.
