TO CELEBRATE the 40th anniversary of tourism on Guam, tourists arriving on island today will be given a special greeting at the airport.
The Guam Visitors Bureau, alongside the Tourism Education Council, will be on hand today at the airport to welcome the passengers arriving on the anniversary flights.
“The May 1st arrivals will be greeted with song, dance, beauty and scrumptious delights,” GVB said.
The greetings are being done in commemoration of 40 years of tourism on Guam. It marks the 40th year of the arrival on Guam of the first regular Pan American World Airways flight on May 1, 1967.
Welcome greeters will provide commemorative cookies created by the Guam Community College’s culinary arts program during the early morning flights, while the afternoon flights will be greeted by cultural entertainers from the Paraiso Dance group, Tourism Education Council students, and the newly crowned Miss Guam Tourism winners.
The show and main greeting will begin tomorrow at 2:30 pm.
This event is the first in a series of festivities for the tourism month organized by GVB.
