Incoming Australian Royal Navy Technical Adviser, Chief Petty Officer Paul "Bear" Kenny, formerly took over the position of Chief Petty Officer Werner Stach on April 20.
Aussie Ends Term in Palau
Stach ended his three-year term in Palau. Stach had been working with the Division of Marine Law Enforcement under the Ministry of Justice. Lasy week as a token of appreciation, Vice President and Minister of Justice Elias Camsek Chin presented Stach with a retired Palauan flag during a small ceremony .
Stach’s replacement, Bear will provide specialist mechanical engineering advice to the Division of Marine Law as part of Australia’s commitment to Palau’s Patrol Boat Program.
The current Maritime Surveillance Adviser, Lieutenant Commander Dave Hannah said that the farewell reception for Werner Firday night was also to welcome Bear.
Although we will all miss Werner, our small team is lucky to be joined by an engineer with Bear’s experience. I expect that he will keep up the excellent work that the Advisers have been doing over the last ten years."
Bear joined the Royal Australian Navy in 1978 and has served in numerous vessels including patrol boats, survey craft, amphibious craft and major warships. He has also experience in the Sea Training Group roles. He is accompanied by his wife Sharon. They are all looking forward to experiencing the wonderful sights, culture and people of Palau.
