Francesca Otong
filed anew her candidacy for Governor of Ngatpang State following last
months failure of election.
Otong, who led two other candidates but failed to garner enough votes
due to technicality, officially filed at 1:55 p.m. yesterday April 23.
Earlier on April 10, the Supreme Courts Trial Division ordered a
new election to be held on May 9.
The deadline for filing is set today April 24.
A candidate must get the required 120 out of 239 possible votes.
Based on the official results of that election, Francesca Otong garnered
a total of 91 votes out of the 178 total votes cast or 74 percent of the
total registered voters of 239.
A runoff election of the two top vote-getters shall be held shortly thereafter
if no one will get the required number of votes like what happened in
the March 29 election.
Demei Otobed came in second with 65 and Martin Blodak with 21.
Meanwhile, former Vice President Sandra Pirantozzi and Hokkons Baules
remained as the two candidates for the vacant seat in the Senate.
The deadline for filing is also set today and the election is May 9.
