Hustlers sluggers lead Juniors batting race; Jets’ Nakamura tops pitching list

THE Hustlers sluggers continue to dominate the batting department in the Juniors division of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament, while the Jets’ Harry Nakamura was still steady on the mound.
Eric Tenorio and Nokki Saralu of the Hustlers hold the top two spots in the batting race as of April 22. In the previous statistics the SLLB released, the two Hustlers sluggers also led in the batting race.
After the games on April 22, Tenorio was 19-for-27 at the plate for a .704 batting average, while Saralu in seven games with the Hustlers went 16-for-25 for a .640 average.
In third place was the Pirates’ Richard Dela Cruz, who was 13-for-21 for a batting average of .619. The Jets’ Anthony Salas and Ignacio Agulto complete the top five going 13-for-22 and 14-for-27 at the plate, respectively.
Making it to the top 10 were the Fielders’ JD Sablan (.478 average), the Hustlers’ McGarette Duenas (.458), the Fielders’ Peter Tenorio (.455), the Hustlers’ John Celis (.455) and the Fielders’ John Maratita (.385) and Tom Agulto (.346).
Maratita has the most runs with 21, followed by Saralu with 17, Tenorio (15), Toby Felming (14) and Anthony Salas (13).
Maratita also leads in doubles tying Eric Tenorio with four apiece, while Saralu, John Celis and Tom Agulto have three apiece.
Saralu and Dela Cruz have the most triples with four each, while Eric Tenorio has the most homers and RBIs with three and 17, respectively.
On the pitching leaders list, Nakamura paced eight other pitchers.
In seven games, Nakamura pitched 25 innings allowing 33 hits with five runs charged against him. He has a 1.40 ERA beating the Fielders’ Maratita, who has a 1.54 ERA, for first place.
The Hustlers John Tydingco is in third place with a 3.37 ERA, followed by the Jets’ Joe Palacios (3.60) and the Fielders’ Tom Agulto (3.73).
Nakamura has the most strikeouts with 34 tying the Warriors’ Joshua Jones, while the Pirates’ Eli Augenbaugh has 30, Agulto has 24 and the Ol’Aces Joel Kaipat has 20.
