ROUTING their
opponents is getting to be a habit for the Office of the Public Auditor,
which pounded All Out, 100-62, in the 2007 Inter-government Basketball
League last Friday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
OPA is unbeaten in three games and its first two wins were also via routs.
OPA debuted against the Legislature on April 9, and notched a 113-31 victory.
Last Thursday, OPA pounded the Ports Police, 111-57.
For the second straight time, Ponce Rasa, who had 26 points against the
Ports Police, topscored for OPA with 20 markers.
Six other OPA players scored in double figures with Bob Coldeen adding
15, Steve Rasa chipping in 14, Ed Diaz having 12 points, Chris Camacho
contributing 11 and Tim Wesley and Jun Arron drilling 10 apiece.
OPA held All Out to six points in the first quarter to take a big 27-6
lead.
All Out finally found its marks in the second quarter hitting 25 points,
but it failed to sustain its momentum in the second half, as it scored
only 12 markers in the third quarter.
OPA consistently scored 20 plus points in all four quarters nailing 25
in the second, 11 and 25 in the third and fourth periods, respectively.
With the win, OPA temporarily tied the Department of Community and Cultural
Affairs for the lead in Pool A.
DCCA was playing the Legislature last night gunning for its fourth straight
win. The results of the match were unavailable at press time.
All Out absorbed its first loss in three games.
In last Fridays first game, Tinian also cruised to an easy 117-70
victory over Customs.
The defending champion improved to a 3-0 record, a win behind Pool B leader
NMC Proa, which has a 4-0 slate.
After a 24-point performance in Tinians 113-90 win over the Department
of Corrections last Thursday, John Santos exploded for 32 points.
Santos started the game with a triple and went on to nail three more shots
from downtown to lead Tinian to its second blowout win.
Peter Manglona, who had 23 points against Corrections, had another 20-point
plus performance firing 27 markers. Anthony Borja, who scored 24 markers
last Thursday, added 20 points last Friday.
Two more players scored in double figures for Tinian with Jesse Manibusan
adding 16 and John Sablan contributing 14.
Tinian had a hot start taking a 30-16 lead and sustained their high fieldgoal
shooting. The only time the defending champion failed to score 30-plus
points was in the third when it nailed only 24 points.
But after the third period, Tinian was still comfortably ahead by 35 points,
85-50.
With the loss, Customs remained winless in three games.
