A 54-year-old man charged
for sexually abusing a minor has entered a guilty plea.
Isidro Rapaito Taisacan through his lawyer Joaquin DLG Torres appeared
in Superior Court for a change of plea hearing on Wednesday before Associate
Judge Ramona V. Manglona.
Taisacan entered a guilty plea to the offense of sexual abuse of a minor
in the fourth degree.
Assistant Attorney General Rosemond B. Santos agreed to dismiss the other
sexual abuse charge.
Manglona accepted the plea and sentenced Taisacan to one year of imprisonment
all suspended except for four days with credit for four days of time served
from Nov. 18 to 22, 2006.
The victim, at the time of the offense, was 17 1/2 years old.
The prosecution said that there was no penetration, only sexual contact.
Manglona placed Taisacan on probation for a period of one year and he
was ordered to report to the Office of Adult Probation on April 25.
He will pay a fine of $250, and a court assessment fee of $25.
He will be referred to the Commonwealth Guidance Center for evaluation
and will complete any recommended course of treatment including but not
limited to alcohol treatment.
Taisacan was also ordered not to have any direct or indirect contact with
the victim while on probation.
He will be placed on unsupervised probation for another two years after
completing the first year of probation.
During the two years of unsupervised probation, he will have no direct
or indirect contact with the victim.
Manglona ordered that the $750 cash bail posted by Taisacan be returned
to the Torres Brothers law firm and all other bail terms be exonerated
except for the stay away provision.
Taisacan was ordered to return to court on July 25 for a review hearing
at 9 a.m.
