A SENIOR student at Kagman High School has been nominated for inclusion in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students for demonstrating academic excellence in education.
Aaron C. Arthur, 14, is among a select group of students who are being considered for the 40th edition of Who’s Who.
Arthur’s nomination was announced by Carol Lynn Martens, the publisher of Who’s Who and chairwoman of Educational Communications Inc.’s Scholarship Foundation.
Martens said when Arthur’s biography appears in the publication, he may also avail himself of international scholarship grants.
Marten said inclusion improves eligibility for scholarships; looks great on college applications and resumes; and contributes to future success.
Arthur’s nomination qualifies him to apply for one of 61 scholarships totaling over $100,000 through the ECI Scholarship Foundation.
According to Marten, 95 percent of responding college admissions offices use Who’s Who as a reference in their recruitment assessments.
“For over 40 years, Who’s Who honorees have distinguished themselves during their college careers, as they establish themselves professionally, and have become leaders and role models,” Martens said.
Arthur’s mother, Jean Cruz, said her son’s nomination is a great achievement for him and his family.
“We’re very proud of our son and we will continue our love and support for him,” the mother said.
Arthur is the eldest son of Jean and Greg Cruz and he has three younger sisters.
Arthur said he is very thankful for his nomination.
“I want to thank my school, Kagman High, for believing in me, my family especially my grandmother (Isabel Cruz) for all her effort and my parents for pushing me to do my best. I hope Who’s Who accepts me,” he told Variety.
Nomination to Who’s Who is a special honor. On a national basis, only 5 percent of all high school students are included each year.
The purpose of the book is to recognize outstanding high school students for their academic achievement and participation in extra-curricular and community activities.
