SportsIslanders, Geckos keep unbeaten records

BOTH the John F. Kennedy Islanders and the George Washington Geckos Women’s and Men’s teams improved to 3-0 in the IIAAG Track & Field event Friday at the John F. Kennedy field.
The Islanders’ Men improved their record defeating the Guam High Panthers 80-47. The Geckos took on the Friars and won 78-47.
The Simon Sanchez Men’s team would get their first win of the season defeating the Southern High Dolphins 121 – 0. The Islanders Men would be led by wins in the 3000 Meter Run, 100 Meter Hurdles, and the Javelin Throw.
The Geckos were led by wins in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, 300 Meter Hurdles, and the 4x400 Relay. Both the Islanders and Geckos Women’s teams would take keep their undefeated record with the Islanders defeating Guam High 107-20 and the Geckos beating Academy of Our Lady 95-23.
The Simon Sanchez Women would get their first win of the season as well as they defeated the Southern High Dolphins 86-0. The Islanders Women’s team would be led by getting wins in the 400 Meter Dash, 4x400 Relay, Triple Jump, Shot Put, and Javelin Throw.
The Geckos would rack up wins in the 200 Meter Dash, 800 Meter Run, 1500 Meter Run, 3000 Meter Run, 100 Meter Hurdles, and the Long Jump. The storied race of the day however was the 4x100 Meter Relay in which the photo finish would be the only way to determine who won.
After reviewing the officials would give the win to Academy of Our Lady with a time of 60.00 seconds followed by George Washington with a time of 60.01 seconds and in third would be John F. Kennedy with a time of 60.02 seconds.
The Islanders and Geckos are now set to face each other to see who will really be number one next Friday at the John F. Kennedy field.
