THE Marianas
Racing Association held its second point race for April last Sunday at
Cowtown Raceway Park in Marpi with three guest riders.
Rotas Jerome Fujihara and Donovan Atalig and Guams Frank Rios
held their ground against MRA riders.
MRA president Eric Cruz said they are inviting off-island riders to race
on Saipan to prepare for future races and to experience racing with MRA
riders.
Fujihara competed in the 125-250 novice class placing second behind Shane
Alvarez. Five other MRA riders joined the 125-250 novice race with DJ
Camacho finishing third, followed by Henry Camacho, Jack Dela Cruz, Kiku
Togawa and Joshua Camacho.
Atalig was entered in the 80-85 novice. He did not finish in Heat 1, but
claimed the win, as Nathan Quitano did not race in Heat 2.
Rios, who thanked RPM Yamaha, Onederas Inc., Sign Write, Napa, Kautz
& Sons Glass, 76 SPPC, Paradise Fitness, TCR and Errico for their
support in his races, topped the 125-250 expert class defeating four other
riders.
Ellery Cruz placed second, followed by Dave Celis, Glenn Pangelinan and
Meagan Cruz.
Rios also joined exhibition races in the veterans and 250 open classes.
He finished ahead of Celis, Cepeda and Chris Alepuyo in the veterans race.
In the open class, Rios outraced Ellery Cruz, Celis, Cepeda and Dela Cruz.
In other points race results, Kijay Ada and Emelsha, Edinna and Patty
Cepeda had trouble-free races in their respective events.
Ada (modified 50 class), Emelsha (Mini 50), Edinna (60-65) and Patty (PW-80)
were the lone riders in their respective classes. The four young riders,
along with Britney Camacho (Mini ATV) raced together for safety purposes
although they belong to different classes.
Britney took last Sundays top honors in the Mini ATV class, as Manny
Sablan, Lorenzo Sablan, Sabo Ada and Walter Sablan did not race last weekend.
In the 80-85 expert class, Chris Chris Alepuyo downed Franklin Santos,
Manny Flores and Aaron Pangelinan.
MRA will hold its next point race on May 27.
MRA is encouraging motor racing fans to visit Cowtown Raceway Park and
watch the exciting races.
