After six games, Taitano was 14-for-21 at the plate for a .667 batting average. Despite failing to give the Pirates a good record (1-5), Taitano made a big leap in the batting race. In the previous statistics released by Saipan Little League Baseball officials he was not even in the top 10.
Former batting leader Vicente Cabrera of the Falcons was relegated to a tie for sixth place with the Fielders’ Ton Tenorio. Cabrera and Tenorio were both 9-for-19 at the plate for a .474 batting average.
In second place was the Falcon’s Ryan Ada (10-for-19, .526), followed by the Hustlers Anthony Rogolofoi (11-for-21, .524) and Philip Manalo (12-for-23, .522) and the Jets’ Jonathan Salas (10-for-20, .500) and the Pirates’ David Camacho (11-for-22, .500).
Ada had the most runs with 10, while Nathan Kintol, Ben Leon Guerrero, Taitano and Ioanis Rasa scored nine apiece.
Rogolofoi leads in doubles with five, while Derek Nedlic had four and Jose Camacho, Cabrera and Winsner Namelo racked up three each.
Jonathan Salas and Taitano both have three triples, while Ada, Manalo and Namelo had two apiece.
Giovanni Ayuyu and Ben Camacho hit two homers apiece as of April 22.
Ben Cabrera leads the Seniors League in RBI with 11, followed by Salas (9) and Rogolofoi and Nedlic (8).
The Falcons’ Techur pitched in 23.1 innings allowing only 18 hits with seven runs scored against him.
In five games, he posted a 2.10 ERA.
In second place in the pitching race was the Jets’ Juan Iguel with a 3.29 ERA, followed by the Fielders’ Anthony Tenorio (4.21) and Rogolofoi (7.67).
Techur had the most strikeouts with 36, while Tenorio posted 22.
The pitching stats are based on 15 or more innings.
