Mason’s Hardware nailed a hard-earned 72-66 victory over the Bullets on Saturday April 28 in the championship game of the Division II Finals of the 2007 Shell NBL.
Team captain Maka Ichiro and Juvic San Juan led anew the scoring chores as they finished with 23 points apiece for Mason’s, which bagged its first championship crown as a team.
Tobel Techur added 14.
Starting this season with a new moniker – Matadors – the team reverted to its original name, Mason’s Hardware, which clicked.
Mason’s reached the championship game via a commanding 78-58 win against PCC Mesekiu on April 26 with Maka firing in 24 points and Juvic adding 17.
The second placer Bullets, on the other hand, defeated the Ngarchelong Blue Sharks, 86-78, to advance to the championship game.
The Blue Sharks later settled for third place as struggled in the early going before beating fourth finisher Mesekiu in their consolation match.
