GUAM Public School
System Superintendent Luis Reyes said he is confident that they will get
$6 million to make employee gross payroll this Friday.
Right now, we have nothing, Reyes said. But I am confident
we will get it. They gave us $2.3 million last week to make payments to
our payroll vendors, so I am confident that they will give us $6 million.
Last week, GPSS received from the administration a total of $2.3 million
to pay its employee payroll vendors.
GPSS spokesperson Gerry Cruz, in an earlier interview, said of the $2.3
million, $1.8 million cleared up the payroll vendor payments and $500,000
was used to address other GPSS vendors that fall in the categories of
safety and health.
Reyes told Variety the money helped them pay their Guam Waterworks Authority
bill, their telephone bill with GTA, and an air-conditioning contractor,
JRN.
Previously, we couldnt make any payments when we got money
as it went to payroll vendors. Now when we get money, we can pay the agencies
and other vendors, said Reyes.
