EIGHTH and still
counting.
The defending champions D-9ers posted their eighth win in as many games
after defeating the Cheluus, 8-6, last Tuesday in the Mens
Fast-pitch Softball League at the Miguel Tan Ge Basa Pangelinan
Ballfield.
Jess Peterson pitched in no relief in seventh innings shutting out the
Cheluus in the first six innings.
With Peterson taking care of business on the mound, the D-9ers took an
8-0 lead. The Cheluus had a rally at the bottom of the seventh but
fell short, dropping them to a 2-5 record.
Peterson had 11 strikeouts. He also did well at the plate going 3-for-4
with one run, two singles and a double.
Mel Sakisat and Chris Camacho also went 3-for-4 with the former scoring
two runs, getting two singles and a double and the latter notching two
runs, a single and two doubles.
Jerome Delos Santos was 3-for-5 with a run, a double, an inside-the-park
homer and five RBIs.
In the first game, the Islanders improved to a 5-3 record after slipping
past the San Vicente Sunrisers, 9-8.
Manny Tenorio scored the winning run at the bottom of the ninth inning.
Dennis Cruz was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Islanders and scored two
runs, hand a double, an RBI and an inside-the-park homer.
