GREGORIO T. Camacho Elementary School beat Kagman in the girls’ division of the 2006-2007 Elementary School Fast-pitch Softball tournament, while the Marlins ruled the boys’ contest last Tuesday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield.
GTC slipped past the Lady Marlins, 8-7, while Kagman’s boys’ team whipped GTC, 12-2.
In the girls’ division, both teams started strong with GTC and Kagman scoring five runs apiece in the first inning.
GTC had three runs in the second and third inning, while the Lady Marlins had only one.
Kagman at the top of the fourth scored one run and then shut out GTC at the bottom of the fourth to move within one, 8-7.
But the Lady Marlins failed to steal the game, as GTC’s played tough defense with its pitcher striking out the first two Kagman batters.
Kagman’s third batter Angela was then beaten to first base ending the game in favor of GTC.
Janice led GTC, as she went 2-for-2 with two inside-the-park homers, while CJ, Maria, Lorna, Nelly and Karmina had one run apiece.
The boys’ team of Kagman redeemed the Marlins’ pride with a 10-point win over GTC.
A six-run first inning gave the Marlins the control of the game. GTC was allowed only one hit in the first inning and failed to score a single run.
GTC never recovered from thereon, as it nailed only a run apiece in the second and fourth inning.
Ray and Ricardo drilled one inside-the-park homers each for Kagman, while Baxster, Byron, Kanice, Jersey, Anthony, Joshua, Tristan and and Raymond scored one run each. Lancaster and Ricardo had two runs apiece.
