HUNDREDS of residents and
tourists joined the celebration of Taste of Marianas on Saturday at American
Memorial Park.
The event marks the beginning of Tourism Month celebrations.
Were very impressed with the turnout and, as we look around,
we see a lot of people from everywhere and were very happy with
their participation, Marianas Visitor Authority Managing Director
Perry Tenorio said.
International and local cuisine prepared by various hotels and restaurants
on island was sold during the event.
We have 16 vendors here and we have an ongoing contest on the radio
to raise awareness about the value of tourism, Tenorio said.
Cultural dance performances, contests and other tourism-related activities
are scheduled throughout Tourism Month.
MVA Chairman Jerry Tan, in his opening message, said its important
to see the community gathering to support the tourism industry.
Tourism is everybodys business and we need to treat our visitors
as very special guests because their contribution to the island helps
pay for public and private services that we all enjoy, he said.
