THE Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol Division is looking for the individual responsible for hitting a 63-year-old pedestrian early Saturday morning in Dededo. The individual left the scene of the accident.
The victim of the hit-and-run, Mary Jane Zanis, was trying to cross the street on Fatima Road, according to GPD public information officer Allan Guzman.
The fatal accident took place at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. Individuals who may have information on this case or may have witnessed it are asked to call GPD’s Highway Patrol Division at 475-8463/64/65.
Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Guam Crime Stoppers at 477-HELP (4357). Crime Stoppers does not use caller ID and you do not have to leave your name.
Road rage
Police arrested a Dededo man because of road rage. Mypazz Raphael, 25, was charged with reckless driving, reckless conduct, and not having a driver’s license.
According to Guzman, a 44-year-old woman was driving a Mitsubishi Montero with her 8-year-old daughter in the back seat south on Route 3 in Dededo when the incident happened.
Both Raphael and the woman were traveling south at 2:50 p.m. Saturday when the woman switched lanes, cutting Raphael off. Raphael told police that it was at that point that he had lost control of his red Chevrolet Aveo, hitting a curb.
Raphael recovered from hitting the curb and followed the Montero, striking it several times and causing it to flip several times.
The woman remained at the Guam Memorial Hospital in stable condition, while her daughter was discharged.
