Keith Ignacio and Andy Johnson won the recently concluded Open and Intermediate Tennis single’s tournament by the Palau Tennis Federation.
Ignacio beat Nelson Sisior to be the champion for the open category with a score of 6-2, 6-3 and in the intermediate category Johnson defeats Mark Lagusad with a score of 2-6,6-0, 6-4.
Larry Wakakoro tournament director said the tournament started during the first week of April with 16 players participating in the tournament.
Wakakoro said there were 11 players who signed up for the intermediate division while five players registered for the open division.
For the Open division , Elliot Udui was second runner-up while Romeo Roque was intermediate’s category’s second runner-up.
The two categories were played through a round robin format.
The federation also announced that the single’s tournament for the novice category started on May 2.
Members and non-members of the federation are encouraged to participate in the tournament held every night at the Airai Elementary Tennis Court starting at 6 p.m.
