(DEQ) — The unexploded ordnance pre-application meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Division of Environmental Quality, in the Gualo Rai Center on Saipan. 
The CNMI government, through the Department of Public Safety and with assistance from DEQ, is seeking federal Environmental Protection Agency approval for hazardous waste management units used for the purpose of storing and disposing through detonation of various hazardous wastes that are characterized has reactive because they are explosive. 
The hazardous waste at this site includes munitions and explosives primarily from the World War II era. 
The purpose of this meeting is to solicit questions from the community and inform the community of proposed hazardous waste management activities.
Anyone wanting to attend the meeting requiring any special access to participate is encouraged to contact DEQ at least 72 hours in advance of the meeting.
