AN 18-year-old who was arrested for vandalizing numerous facilities around the island is scheduled to appear before Superior Court Judge Alberto C. Lamorena III tomorrow morning for an arraignment hearing, according to a court clerk.
Guam Police public information officer Allan Guzman said Kennan Schuyler Tydingco of Tumon was arrested and confined on 13 counts of criminal mischief, 13 counts of graffiti, two counts of jurisdiction over an adult, criminal facilitation, and conspiracy.
“On May 1 at 2:04 a.m., an individual saw graffiti on the stop sign on Ancho Tasi Street by Jonestown in Tamuning,” Guzman said. “The witness noticed several individuals in a vehicle and contacted police. Further investigation into this case and the rash of graffiti throughout the Tamuning and Tumon areas resulted in the activation of the Tamuning/Tumon Crime Suppression Unit.”
The suspects were identified and interviewed. Evidence was also confiscated from them.
Three people were taken into custody, including Tydingco, and two female minors.
The minors, according to Guzman, were turned over to GPD’s Juvenile Investigation Section.
Tydingco appeared before a magistrate judge on Saturday.
According to the magistrate documents, Tydingco faces 12 charges each of criminal mischief and graffiti.
The magistrate declaration signed by Assistant Attorney General William Pole stated that Tydingco met with an officer with the Uniform Crime Suppression Task Force regarding “several incidents of graffiti.”
Tydingco told the officer that over the past weekend, he and two others decided to spray paint on the walls of several local establishments because the other graffiti on the walls were “tacky.”
The magistrate documents listed the establishments that Tydingco had vandalized, including the Club Lamor in Tumon, the Imperial Plaza in Tumon, the Tumon Police Precinct, the Tumon Koban, the Flametree Plaza in Tumon, the wall near the Dollar Rent-A-Car in Tamuning, a stop sign near the Guam Memorial Hospital, the Villa San Vitores Condos in Tamuning, a stairwell of the Grand Plaza Hotel and the Micronesia Mall, and a bus stop by the Tumon Precinct.
According to the complaint, Tydingco and the two female minors had spray painted the Grand Plaza Hotel parking lot and staircase area on April 28. One of the minors told police that Tydingco supplied the paint and the other minor drove them to the hotel.
