Scholarship program deadlines

(SCHOLARSHIP OFFICE) —The deadline for submission of the 2007/2008 CNMI scholarship application for this upcoming fall 2007 term is fast approaching.
Applications are available at the Capital Hill office between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
Those unable to stop by are encouraged to access the application online at www.cnmischolarship.com.
Applications must be submitted into our office or postmarked by July 1, 2007. Deadline for supporting documents is Sept. 30.
1) Educational Assistance Program. This grant is awarded to eligible applicants enrolled in a U.S. accredited institution who are interested in pursing a certificate, associates or baccalaureate degree.
Supporting documents for EAP:
• Most recent sealed official transcript
• Valid voter’s registration ID
• Acceptance letter from a recognized U.S. accredited institution; Non-U.S. accredited institution must be approved by the SAB
• Proof of permanent CNMI residence. Must meet 2 consecutive years of residency preceding the date of application
• Copy of U.S. passport/birth certificate from court
• Fall 2007 class schedule (may be submitted at a later date)
Other documents may be requested.
2) Public Law 14-37, or the CNMI Honors Scholarship Program. Every year 15 new high school graduates with the highest scholastic standing will be selected to receive this scholarship; two students from Tinian and Rota, eight from Saipan, and three from off-island..
Deadline for application and supporting documents on June 30, 2007.
Supporting documents include:
• Application and supporting documents must be received by our office no later than June 30.
• Acceptance letter into a U.S. recognized accredited institution
• Proof of U.S. citizenship
• Sealed official transcript from high school
• Proof of residence:
For those on-island: minimum of six years CNMI residency, the last two must be from 11th and 12th grades.
For those off-island: parents should be bona fide CNMI residents at the time of the application and have been for a period of eight years prior to the date of application.
• Submit SAT/ACT scores
• Submit two letters of recommendation
• Submit proof of extra curricular activities.
• Incomplete application packets will not be entertained during the selection process.
3) Public Law 10-58 as amended by Public Law 11-34: Post secondary teacher education scholarship program
Applies only to ongoing recipients.
