Senate President Surangel
Whipps Sr. has requested Speaker Antonio Bells that the House of Delegates
to tackle Presidents request of a supplemental budget for fiscal
year 2007.
Whipps cited the absence of Senate Floor Leader Alan Seid, who is also
chairman of the committee on ways and means and financial matters and
is on an official trip abroad.
President Remengesau has recently submitted to both the HOD and the Senate
a proposed supplemental budget that would expand the budget for certain
programs as well as establish a line credit of $3 million to help facilitate
the governments cash flow capacity.
Bells thanks OEK members who attended dinner meeting on April 18
Meanwhile Bells on Tuesday May 1 has extended a thank you message to Whipps
following a dinner meeting on April 18 at the Red Rooster, where he said
they discussed legislative work and made commitments to move forward for
the benefit of all.
The HOD hosted the dinner meeting, which "was indeed very meaningful
and productive as all Delegates and Srenators had the opportunity to exchange
thoughts about the progress of our legislative work and made commitment
to move forward placing emphasis on objectivity, cooperation and efficiency."
"With the spirit of cooperation established in the new beginning,
the House of Delegates has begun taking actions on several pending bills
and will continue to move forward in that direction for the benefit of
all.
