Unfair for Tinian

CONSIDERING that the people of Tinian are being forced to pay exorbitant power rates to help upgrade and maintain the Saipan power and water systems, and considering that all the funds that will be generated on Tinian by the construction of new hotels and a golf course will go to the general fund, it is unfair that Tinian must bear the burden of the entire cost of developing its infrastructure.
Perhaps it would be more fair if all the funds created by hotel and golf course construction on Tinian, which will only occur if the ILS is installed, the public dump moved and the wastewater treatment system installed, should be retained on Tinian until the two new casinos come on line. Then, when the casinos come on line, the funds that would normally go to the general fund go to the general fund and Tinian then assumes full responsibility for the rest of its economic development needs from the casino revenues. No one will ever again be able to complain that Tinian is a financial burden on Saipan. That is fair to all the CNMI in the long run.
