By Roselyn B. Monroyo
Variety News Staff

The Office of the Public Auditor extended its winning run to five, while the Department of Corrections finally grabbed its first win in its last game in the regular season in the 2007 Inter-government Basketball League last Tuesday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
OPA clobbered the DPS Enforcers, 107-65, while Corrections nipped the Airport Police Firefighters, 80-79.
All of OPA’s five wins were routs and its acid test will come tomorrow when it faces another undefeated team, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs.
DCCA and OPA hold identical 5-0 records and the winner of tomorrow’s match in Pool B will automatically gain a semis slot in the playoffs.
Ed Diaz and Chris Camacho led OPA’s demolition of the Enforcers drilling 24 and 20 points, respectively.
Three other players scored in double figures for OPA with Steve Rasa, Everly Pangilinan and Tim Wesley nailing 11 markers apiece.
With Camacho firing eight in the first quarter, OPA took an early 24-10 lead.
The Enforcers recovered from a slow start drilling 24 points in the second quarter, but Ed Diaz started to find his marks in that period scoring 12 to keep OPA in the lead at halftime, 57-34.
OPA never looked back from thereon.
The Enforcers, who were runnersup to Tinian last year, ended the regular season with a 1-5 record and are likely to finish in sixth place in Pool B.
Roy Kaipat led the Enforcers cause notching 28 points.
In the first game, Simada Iramk drilled 32 points, including Corrections last six points to power his team to a one-point win over the Firedawgs.
The Firedawgs led in the first quarter, but lost control of the game at the start of the second period when Iramk started to connect from downtown.
Iramk had five triples in the second and third quarters to give Corrections a 64-53 lead, going into the final period.
Jawn Joyner tried to bring the Firedawgs back into the game hitting 19 points in the fourth quarter, but timely baskets from Iramk foiled his bid and secured the win for Corrections, which ended the regular season with a 1-5 record.
