Peace Corp, JICA help sought to improve academic performance

President Remengesau said that Peace Corp volunteers and JICA representatives’ assistance are being tapped to improve academic performance of students in Math, Science and English subjects.
The president said these subjects are the areas the students need improvement.
He said Peace Corp organization was asked to send volunteers who can teach English while JICA volunteers was requested to help teach Math and Science.
The president said it is his government’s policy decision to focus on these three areas because education is very important and will spur economic development.
He said the education department has included in their five-year plan that skills of students in this area will advance.
An improved skill in these subjects will help increase the performance of the students at the same time help improve the quality of education in Palau.
