An owner of a woodcarving store was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance.
According to Criminal Case No. 07-069, Elbebai Erchar is facing charges for allegedly selling marijuana.
In the affidavit of probable cause of Bureau of Public Safety officer Norman Bintorio, he said that on Feb. 2007, the Narcotics Office received information that the defendant is allegedly selling illegal drugs and that a controlled buy was arranged.
The affidavit said that Bintorio , another police officer and the confidential informant went to the wood carving store of the defendant.
The affidavit said the police observed that the CI entered the building and met with the suspects near the stairs.
The CI then allegedly handed some money to Erchar and took something out of his pocket and handed it to the informant.
The informant then handed back the joints to the police. The joints were then field tested.
On March 5, Erchar was arrested after a second controlled buy.
The defendant, the affidavit said , admitted that he had been using and selling marijuana joints at his shop since 2003 and stated that he reportedly get his marijuana from Peleliu state boat.
