It was a team effort so to speak.
Godwin got an unselfish assist pass from Jimmy for the buzzer beating two pointer that lifted Ochoi to a 28-27 victory over Zorro in the championship game of the 2007 Jailhouse Rock 3-on-3 basketball tournament yesterday May 7 at the Koror jail.
This match was supposed to be played last Friday May 4 in celebration of senior citizens’ day but due to the rains it had been moved to yesterday.
Ochoi’s other players were Nioch, Jayson, Iyar and Liverio.
Earlier on Thursday May 3, Ochoi advanced to the championship match via technicality despite losing the semifinal game against Bloes.
The Bloes won that game, 31-19, but Ochoi protested the former for fielding ineligible players.
Also on May 3, Zorro outlasted Blue Corner, 27-23, in overtime in their semifinal encounter.
Zorro recovered from a 4-7 first half deficit and forced the game into overtime with the regulation scored ended at 21-21.
Then, Zorro limited Blue Corner to just two points while scoring six for the win.
PNOC, though its outreach program, helped organized the tournament.
Vice President and Justice Minister Elias Camsek Chin showed up to award the championship trophy.
Meanwhile, the inmates donated $50 dollars for the senior citizens.
