THE PTI Fielders whipped the Northern Angels, 17-4, in the Big League division of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament last Tuesday at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Ballfield.
A nine-run first inning was enough for the Fielders to end the game in five innings and gain their eighth win.
After a hot start, the Fielders scored six more runs in the second inning. The Angels had only one run in the first inning and were shut out in the second and third innings.
The Fielders added two more runs in the third, while the Angles never recovered as they had only three runs in the last two innings.
Ken Guerrero was perfect at the plate for the Fielders going 3-for-3 with two runs, a double, two singles and RBI.
Shane Yamada and Jesus Iguel both went 3-for-4 with the former scoring two runs, an RBI and three singles. Iguel had four runs, two doubles and an RBI.
Brandon Santos pitched in no relief for the Fielders and had five strikeouts. He allowed only six hits.
Meanwhile, the SLLB board has decided on the protest filed by the Fielders after their game against the Aztecs.
The board agreed that the Aztecs and Fielders should play again on May 19. The game will start at the bottom of the seventh with the Aztecs leading at 9-8 and the Fielders at bat with two outs.
The Aztecs won the match played on April 24, but the Fielders put the game under protest citing an illegal substitution.
The game will resume on May 19 at 3 p.m.
