THE GHRA Basketball League was in action Saturday and the Sand Castle team took on the Citi Bank team. The game would be one that would shift back and forth between the two teams with Citi Bank taking the early lead but the Sand Castle team ultimately winning the game.
The end of the first half would see the Sand Castle team awake, coming back from an eight point deficit to come within one with at the half. With just under 20 seconds left Citi Bank’s RC Gabriel would push the tempo looking for the last shot.
After swinging the ball to the wing and then trying to get the ball inside Sand Castle’s Claudio Leal would knock the ball away and then save the ball giving the Sand Castle team the fast break as time was running out. After taking the ball all the way up court Sand Castle would miss the open lay-up as time expired giving Citi Bank the lead at half 13-12.
Sand Castle would open the second half firing on all cylinders as they quickly jumped to a 13 point lead over Citi Bank leading 26-13. Citi Bank would not have an answer for the rebounding abilities of Sand Castle who time after time would grab two or three offensive rebounds in order to give them multiple shots at the basket.
Sand Castle would continue to run Citi Bank and would eventually take the game 49-25. Frank Ferjan would lead Sand Castle with 14 points. RC Gabriel would lead Citi Bank with just five points. Games will continue on Wednesday at Tamuning Gym.
