Defending champion Peched Raw will meet Meda in a best-of-five semifinal series as the two teams stayed alive in the top of the bracket in the ongoing Season Playoffs of the 2007 Shell NBL.
The Ngermid Rivals will face the Surangel Suns in the lower half of the bracket as they also arranged their best-of-five semifinal series.
The winners for the two match-ups will play for a best-of-seven championship series.
No available schedules yet as of this writing as the tournament went on a break last night.
All four semifinalists are teams from Division I.
Peched, which won the Division I title, advanced by beating Division II champion Mason’s Hardware, 88-75, last Tuesday night May 8.
Team Captain Sunshine Soalablai finished the game with 40 points as he shot five of Peched’s nine three-point shots of the team.
Russel Roman added 15 while co-team-captain Weston Ketebengang had 10.
Juvic San Juan and team captain Maka Ichiro led Mason’s with 22 and 21.
Meda, on the other hand, eliminated the Ididers, 82-68, on Wednesday night May 9 with Brian Smau and Ziske Asanuma coming home with 19 and 17 points, respectively.
Gino Smau and John Stills scored 21 and 18 for the Ididers.
Also on May 8, the Rivals marched to the semifinal round via a masterful 81-63 victory over the Breakers.
The Rivals’ scoring leader Javis Pedro had 21 while three other players finished with double digit scores with Jake hitting 14, Spis Gordon 12 and Scout Matsutaro 10.
The Suns also advanced on May 9 as it escaped with an 84-81 decision against the Styxers.
Alvin Soguilon led the Suns with 21 while Una Rikrik finished with 33 points for the Styxers, who put the game under protest due to a referee’s call.
NBL officials, however, shelved the protest as PNOC Basketball Development Officer Kazuki Sungino said "you cannot make a protest against a referee’s call in that particular issue.
