LUTA and the
Legislature ended their campaign in regular season of the 2007 Inter-government
Basketball League with victories stunning their respective rivals last
Thursday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Luta surprised defending champion Tinian notching a 106-83 victory in
the second game, while the Lawmakers downed the Ports Police, 70-53.
The win put Luta in second place in Pool A. It finished the regular season
with a 5-1 record, only a win behind Pool A leader and automatic semifinalist
NMC Proa (6-0).
Tinian dropped to third and still advanced to the playoffs with four five
others team.
Lutas foe in the first round of the playoffs will be the Ports Police,
who finished last in Pool B with a 1-5 record.
Tinian will meet the Lawmakers, who beat the Ports Police for the No.
6 spot with their win last Thursday.
Tinian was still in contention trailing by only five at the end of the
third period, when Luta stepped on the gas pedal in the final quarter
outscoring the visitors, 36-18, en route to a 23-point win.
Tano Calvo sparked Lutas run firing 10 of his 20 points in the fourth
quarter, while Ben Pelisamen added seven.
