Ogo still waiting for Covenant endorsement

By Moneth G. Deposa

REPRESENTATIVE Crispin M. Ogo is still waiting for a formal response from the Covenant Party on his request to be nominated as its senatorial candidate on Rota.
In an interview Friday, Ogo said he has yet to receive an answer from the party chairman on Rota, Herman Apatang.
Ogo, Covenant-Rota, submitted his letter of intent last February, asking the party to endorse him as its senatorial contender for Rota.
“Since my letter last February, I haven’t received any formal response from the party. I am seeking a seat in the upper house and hopefully they will endorse me. However, it’s been already three months and probably they’re not interested to have me as a candidate under the Covenant banner,” he told Variety.
Ogo said he will go ahead with his senatorial candidacy with or without the party’s support.
“If I’m not endorsed by the party I will probably run as an Independent candidate. I am waiting for the response (to my letter) and hopefully they can respond to me immediately because time is running out,” he said.
Ogo is serving his second term in the House of Representatives.
Apatang did not return this reporter’s call.
Sen. Paul A. Manglona, R-Rota, who is seeking re-election this November, will be Ogo’s opponent.
