A PARK for young skaters is
soon to be built on island, according to the Rotary Club of Saipan.
Last Saturday, the club announced that construction of the skate park
will soon start and cost about $150,000.
It will likely be built in Garapan.
We have a committee working very hard to put it together with another
local organization, said Club president and Superior Court Judge
Juan T. Lizama said.
The club has raised $80,000 and will conduct more fundraisers.
Proceeds from this years Las Vegas fundraiser, which will be held
in August, will go to the project.
We started (the project) four to five years ago, Lizama said.
We learned that a lot of our kids are using the memorial park and
roadways for skating and we realized that we need to create a place for
this activity.
He added, This is a good project and we hope we can get assistance
from the community.
