THE U.S. Coast Guard, along with the Guam Police Department’s Marine Patrol, the Guam Fire Department Rescue Bureau, the Guam Boating Law administrator, the Fisherman’s Co-op, and local marine dealers, will celebrate National Safe Boating Week from May 19 through May 26.
The organizers of National Boat Week on Guam remind boaters to be “boat smart, boat safe, and wear a life jacket when you are underway in a boat,” according to a release from the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary will also hold a vessel safety check to inspect all required safety equipment and boats for availability, functionality, and general seaworthiness.
They will be at the Agana Boat Basin on May 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; at Ylig Bay launch ramp on May 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; at the Merizo Pier on May 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; at the Sumay Marina on May 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and at the Agat Marina on May 26 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will also be a blessing of the fleet at 4 p.m. on May 19. Those interested in the boat blessing are asked to bring their vessel, on a trailer or in the water, to the Agana Boat Basin.
