Young artists are being cultivated
around Koror.
A joint project by the Palau Community College and the Koror State Government
discovered and honed the creativity and natural talents of kids.
Over 60 students showed their potentials to be the future Picassos , Van
Goghs and Rembrandts.
The 63 students showcased their art work last Friday during the commencement
exercise at the Koror State.
The beautiful masterpiece of kids from 5th to 8th are the products of
eight weeks of hard work under the tutelage of Art Instructor Rhea Richardson.
Through these art classes conducted every Saturday encouraged kids to
express their own ideas and sparked their imagination, Richardson said.
In the 8-week period the young artists are taught how to mix colors, to
paint on canvas using acrylic.
The program which was offered for free was funded by the Koror State Government
while PCC provided the space for the classes and the art instructor.
The program awakened the young kids to their own creativity and love of
beauty.
In their masterpieces the kids also learned to appreciate their environment
with their art works theme mostly about the underwater wonders of Palau.
The Koror State Building lobby turned out to be a virtual art gallery
for the childrens art work and masterpieces.
The childrens masterpieces only goes to show how talented they are
and that more programs should be introduced to inspire the kids creativity.
