THE semifinals games in the 2006-2007 Elementary School Boys and Girls’ Fast-pitch Softball tournament set for yesterday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield were called off due to the unpredictable weather.
Liz Palacios of CNMI Softball Association said the tournament are in a wait and see mode.
If it would not rain today, they will hold the two semifinals matches in Pool A.
The boys’ and girls’ semifinal games will feature San Vicente challenging Garapan Elementary School.
The girls’ semifinalists were supposed to play in the first game yesterday, while the boys’ team of the Canaries and the Mallards were scheduled to square off in the second match.
The same schedule will be followed if today’s games will not be cancelled anew.
San Vicente and Garapan Elementary Schools claimed the top two places in Pool A to move into the semifinals.
The Mallards finished the regular season with a 3-1 record in the boys’ division, while San Vicente had a perfect 4-0 record.
In the girls’ division, the Lady Canaries are also undefeated in four games, while the Lady Mallards finished the regular season with a 2-2 slate.
Garapan tied Gregorio Camacho Elementary School in the girls’ division, but the former gained the second semis seat as it beat GTC in their lone meeting.
Tomorrow, Koblerville Elementary School will take on Oleai Elementary School in the girls’ semifinals in Pool B, while the Umangs will face William S. Reyes in the boys’ division.
Koblerville claimed the semis spots in both the girls and boys’divisions after sweeping all three games in the regular season.
Oleai and WSR had similar 2-1 records.
