Hustlers lead in batting, pitching races in Junior League

THE Hustlers may not be in the No. 1 spot in the team standings in the Juniors division of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament, but their players are on top of the individual categories.
Eric Tenorio kept the No. 1 spot in the batting race with his .737 batting average. In nine games, Tenorio has gone 24-for-33 and helped his team place second in the team standings with their 7-2 record.
The Fielders are leading the league with a 7-1 slate, while the Jets share the second spot with the Hustlers.
Another Hustlers’ slugger, Nokki Saralu also kept his place in the batting race, as he is still in the second spot with a .625 batting average. He has gone 20-for-32 at the plate.
Completing the top five are the Pirates’ Richard Dela Cruz, the Jets’ Anthony Salas and the Tanapag Warriors’ Christopher Meyers.
Dela Cruz has a .593 batting average after 10 games going 16-for-27, while Salas went 14-for-27 for an average of .519. Meyers posted a batting average of .444 after going 12-for-27.
John Maratita of the Fielders is leading the league in runs with 21, followed by Saralu (20), Tenorio (19) and Arurang Esebei (16).
Tenorio tops the doubles category with his six, while Saralu and Maratita have four each.
Saralu is leading in triples with four, while Tenorio is currently the homerun king and RBI leader with his three homeruns and 19 RBIs.
In the pitching race, the Hustlers’ John Tydingco moved from third to first place with his 2.63 ERA.
In seven games, Tydingco pitched 26.2 innings and allowed 29 hits. Ten runs were scored against him.
Erstwhile leader Harry Nakamura of the Jets is no longer on the leaders’ list, while the Fielders’ Maratita kept the No. 2 spot with his 2.70 ERA.
The Warriors’ Joshua Jones is in third place, followed by the Fielders’ Tom Agulto, the Pirates’ Eli Augenbaugh and the Ol’Aces Joel Kaipat.
Jones is leading the league in strikeouts with 45. Augenbaugh has 39, while Nakamura has racked up 25.
