Government caging playoffs begin tonight

THE playoff round in the 2007 Inter-government Basketball League will start tonight at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
The Airport Police Firefighters, who were ranked No. 4 in Pool A, faces Pool B’s No. 5 team the DPS Enforcers in the first match in the single-elimination playoffs at 6:30 p.m.
The Firedawgs finished the regular season with a 2-4 record, while the DPS Enforcers had a worse record with their 1-5 slate.
In the second game, Pool B’s No. 4 squad the Department of Public Works/Procurement & Supply take on Pool As’ No. 5 squad the Public School System.
The PSS Schoolers notched two wins in the regular season, while DPW/P&S had a better record with a 3-3 mark.
Tomorrow, defending champion Tinian will duel with the Legislature with the former heavily favored against the Lawmakers. Tinian finished the regular season with a 4-2 record, while the Legislature had only one win in six games.
Also playing tomorrow are All Out against Customs.
All Out finished third in Pool B with a 4-2 record, while Customs had a 1-5 record in Pool A.
Other playoffs pairings are Luta vs the Ports Police and the Office of the Public Auditor vs the Department of Corrections.
NMC Proa and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs drew a bye in the first round of the playoffs after topping their respective Pools.
Both teams were undefeated in six games and gained automatic semis berths.
The championship series will be a best-of-three affair.
