A Superior Court of Guam grand
jury yesterday indicted two men for allegedly sexually assaulting two
minors in separate occasions in Dededo.
The first indictment charged Carmelo Anthony Quintanilla Mendiola, 40,
for allegedly molesting a minor after picking her up at school while her
father was off-island.
Mendiola is facing charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct as
a first-degree felony, second-degree criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree
felony, assault with intent to commit a criminal sexual conduct as a third-degree
felony, assault as a misdemeanor, family violence as a misdemeanor, and
child abuse as a misdemeanor.
The alleged crime happened sometime in November 2006 and was discovered
when the victims aunt was informed by a school nurse that the minor
had several bruises on her body.
The minor narrated to her aunt that Mendiola covered her face with a pillow
when he sexually assaulted her.
Robert Toves Manglona, 55, was also indicted on three counts of first-degree
criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony, two counts of second-degree
criminal sexual conduct as a first-degree felony and two counts of child
abuse as a misdemeanor.
He was complained by the victims mother who told police that Manglona
picked up the victim from school and that upon entering his residence,
asked the minor to have sex with him.
Manglona allegedly committed the same crime twice in March 2007. The minor
said she agreed to have sex with the defendant because she was scared
of him.
