Asia Pacific group formed at Smith Barney Guam

FINANCIAL advisors Daniel A. Roland and Jason Miyashita have combined their businesses to form a team called the Asia Pacific Group at Smith Barney.
The newly formed Asia Pacific Group is expected to enhance their capabilities in addressing the complex financial needs of institutional investors and high net worth investors.
As part of Smith Barney, the new group will be able to offer the full breadth of products and services to help their clients achieve total wealth management.
The blending of extensive experience and business focuses are an added benefit to the overall client experience, Smith Barney added.
Roland has been a member of Smith Barney for more than 24 years with 30 years served in the financial services industry.
As a senior vice president (wealth management) and as a senior institutional consultant of Smith Barney’s consulting group, he provides a full suite of investment services and comprehensive financial planning strategies to institutional investors such as public and private benefit funds, endowments, foundations and high net worth individuals.
Miyashita has more than five years in the financial services industry with two years served at Smith Barney. Miyashita’s primary focus is to manage all aspects of the financial plan, including managing key relationships with various professionals who contribute to the success of the client relationship.
As a graduate of George Washington University with a master’s degree in finance and investments and as a holder of the Certified Investment Management Analyst designation awarded by the Wharton School of Business, Roland is also a member of local community organizations including the Rotary Club of Guam and the Guam Chamber of Commerce.
With a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting and Strategic Management from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and Father Duenas Memorial School Guam, Miyashita also holds the chartered retirement plans specialist and accredited investment fiduciary designations. He is also active in the local community.
Roland and Miyashita will be supported by Maree Pelkey, a consulting group analyst with the firm, who will provide essential technical support and assistance to the Asia Pacific Group and will be responsible for matters of technical policy and standards, performance measurement, and presentation materials for technically advanced accounts.
Pelkey is a graduate of the University of Guam’s School of Business with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration concentrating in Finance and Economics, and the Academy of Our Lady of Guam. She is on the Guam Women’s National Basketball team that will be representing Guam at the South Pacific Games in Samoa in August.
