Hellians take 4-person beach volleyball lead; Sand Smackers still undefeated

THE Hellians extended their winning streak to four to claim the temporary lead in the
Miller Lite Four-Person Beach Volleyball League Spring 2007.
The Hellians improved to a 4-0 record after outclassing 40 In A Bag, 2-1, last Tuesday at the PIC sandcourt.
A sweep of the first two sets secured the win for the Hellians, who had a hot start prevailing in the opening set by nine points, 11-2. The Hellians sustained their momentum in the second set with an 11-1 triumpg.
40 In A Bag foiled a Hellians sweep after recovering in the third set with an 11-9 victory.
With the loss, 40 In A Bag dropped to fourth place in the 12-team field with a 2-2 record
40 In A Bag notched its second win last Thursday after beating Rots of Ruck, 6-11, 11-7, 11-6.
In other results in last Tuesday’s games, the Sand Smackers also remained undefeated winning their third match in a row against the Dolphin Success.
The Sand Smackers swept the three sets of their match, 11-1, 11-2, 11-8, to join Limarh in second place in the team standings.
Also winning in last Tuesday’s games were the Hussy Chandeliers and Bring It On.
Bring It On improved to a 3-1 slate after topping the Rots of Ruck, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8.
The Rots of Ruck dropped to a 1-3 slate and absorbed their third consecutive loss.
The Hussy Chandeliers entered the win column after two games following their 2-1 triumph over the Flippin’ Dolphins.
The Hussy Chandeliers had a hard time downing the Flippin’ Dolphins in the first set pulling off a two-point win, 12-10.
The Flippin’ Dolphins bounced back in the second set with an 11-8 victory, but failed to steal the win, as the Hussy Chandeliers prevailed in the last set, 11-7.
The Flippin’ Dolphins absorbed their second loss in three games.
Meanwhile, Limarh and the Sand Smackers part ways tonight, as they collide in the third game at 7:30 p.m.
The winner will join the Hellians on top of the team standings.
Other games et for tonight are the Flippin’ Dolphins against the Dolphin Dorks; Dolphin Success vs the Okie Dokie Dolphins and Matua against the Hussy Chandeliers.
This year’s 4-person volleyball tournament has a single-round robin format in the regular season with the top eight teams advancing to the playoffs.
