Taitano, Techur still lead Seniors in batting, pitching

THE Pirates’ Ofero Taitano and the Falcons’ Marley Techur continued to lead in the batting and pitching race in the Seniors division of the 2007 Saipan Little League Baseball tournament.
Taitano’s batting average went down compared to the previous figures released by SLLB officials, but his .655 average still tops the Seniors League. In the previous standings, Taitano had an average of .667.
After eight games with the Pirates, who have a 3-5 record, Taitano was 19-for-29 to lead 14 other sluggers on the batting race list.
In second place is Ryan Ada of the Falcons. Ada has a .546 batting average on a 4-fo4-13 performance at the plate.
Jonathan Salas of the league leading Jets is currently in the No. 3 spot with his .536 average after hitting 15-for-28.
Making it to the top five are the Hustlers’ Philip Manalo and the Falcons’ Ben Cabrera, who posted batting averages of .533 and .520, respectively.
Rounding out the top 10 are the Pirates’ David Camacho, the Fielders’ Wensner Namelo and Anthony Tenorio and the Hustlers’ Anthony Rogolofoi and Giovanni Ayuyu.
Ofero has the most runs in the Seniors League with 14, while Ada has 13.
Rogolofoi leads the league in doubles with five, while Cabrera and Derek Nedlic have four apiece.
Salas tops the triples category with four, Cabrera leads in homers and RBIs with two and 15, respectively.
In the pitching race, Techur kept the No. 1 spot for the third straight time.
The Falcons pitcher has a 1.89 ERA after pitching 29.2 innings in six games. Techur has allowed 19 hits, while only eight runs were scored against him.
In second place was the Jets’ Juan Igule with a 3.13 ERA, followed by the Fielders’ Anthony Tenorio (3.86) and the Hustlers’ Rogolofoi (7.00)
The pitching leaders were determined based on 20 or more innings.
