A MAN was seriously injured
after he was stabbed by another man during an argument in the victims
apartment in Tanapag on Monday.
Cheng Zhe Liu was still under observation in the intensive care unit of
the Commonwealth Health Center yesterday.
A police affidavit stated that the victim was in serious condition and
suffering from lung and kidney failure.
Cheng Zhe Liu sustained deep stab wounds to the stomach.
The suspect, Zhang Zhe Piao, is now in the custody of the Department of
Corrections after he turned himself in to the police on Wednesday night.
Zhang Zhe Piao was brought to Superior Court for a bail hearing yesterday
afternoon.
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman imposed a cash bail of $50,000.
The affidavit of Detective Patrick Maanao stated that the stabbing was
reported to the police on Monday at 2:30 a.m.
Police officers responded to the scene and conducted a preliminary investigation
which revealed that the victim and the defendant, along with another friend,
had engaged in a drinking session at the apartment complex
in Tanapag on Sunday evening.
Later that night, the group decided to go to a karaoke bar, where the
victim and the defendant were arguing with each other loudly.
The defendant slapped the victims face and left the bar.
The victim also left the bar and went home.
The defendant went to his apartment and came out with a knife in his hand.
The defendant entered the victims apartment and witnesses said they
heard shouting from the apartment.
The witnesses entered the victims apartment and saw blood coming
from the victims stomach.
The witnesses said the defendant was about to attack the victim again
so they immediately grabbed him and got the knife away from him.
The witnesses carried the victim to a car and brought him to the hospital.
On Wednesday night, the defendant called one of the witnesses and told
him that he wanted to turn himself in to the police.
The witness and the victims girlfriend met the defendant at DPS
central where the defendant was placed under arrest.
