CONTINENTAL Micronesia is planning scheduled air charter services from Seoul to Guam this summer.
According to Continental, the charter service is in response to increased market demand for travel to Guam among South Koreans.
Continental Micronesia president and chief executive officer Mark Erwin said the company is happy to be re-entering the Korean market and doing its part to bring in more Korean visitors to Guam.
“Continental has the ability to increase capacity when markets demonstrate additional demand. We’ll continue to work with our industry partners and with the Guam Visitors Bureau to promote Guam as an attractive destination,” Erwin said.
Continental will be using Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 155 seats for the nonstop charter flights between Guam International Airport and Inchon International Airport in Seoul.
The flight will operate four times a week, except Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for July, and except Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays for August and September.
The charter flights depart Guam at 5:40 p.m. and arrive in Seoul at 9:10 p.m. The flights depart Seoul at 10:15 p.m. and arrive on Guam 3:30 a.m. the next day.
Flying time from Guam will be approximately 4.5 hours.
The charter flights will operate from July 1 through Sept. 3, with the schedule subject to approval from South Korea’s government.
“Continental Micronesia is the hometown airline here in Guam, and this move is just another symbol of our commitment to the Guam community in bringing more travelers to this region,” Erwin said.
